Penshaw farm shop is a family run business located on the outskirts of Penshaw village, situated mid-way between Chester-le-Street and Sunderland, and overlooked by the stunning Penshaw Monument. The Penshaw Nursery and Tea Room were converted from an old stable block. The success of the business has necessitated the recent extension of the tearoom and the addition of the Award Winning Farm Butchers. Since then they have expanded further and opened their very own home bakery.

Broom House Farm Shop

Broom House is a windy spot at 750 feet, with fabulous views over the surrounding countryside. The farm steading is on the top of the hill and the farmland rolls down the valley to the River Browney. Broom House is a livestock farm – so most of the fields grow grass and clover mixes. Some arable crops, such as oats and barley are grown, as well as peas and forage crops like kale. They produce as much of thei own feed for the animals as possible. There’s a herd of beautiful Aberdeen Angus cattle, as well as a large flock of Lleyn sheep and a small herd of Saddleback pigs as well as a flock of laying hens. The aim is to breed all replacement animals on the farm, enabling us to improve the quality of our livestock through breeding.

Crosslanes Organic Farm Shop

Cross Lanes Organic Farm is a local family business, located seconds off the A66 trans-pennine trunk road in Northern England which links the glorious North Pennines to the Lake District. The farm shop is opposite the B6277 junction to Barnard Castle, sitting in the heart of beautiful Teesdale. The living meadow turfed roof has become a landmark on the A66 and for a few months of the year is home to a handful of sheep.
